Privacy notice applicants

This privacy notice is applicable to the processing of personal data of applicants that apply for vacancies with Just Eat Takeaway.com. Just Eat Takeaway.com is responsible for the processing of this personal data and highly values your privacy. Therefore, Just Eat Takeaway.com complies with the General Data Protection Regulation with respect to the processing of personal data.

What and why we process personal data

Just Eat Takeaway.com processes personal data about you because you have applied for an open vacancy with Just Eat Takeaway.com. We only process this data for the selection process and hopefully to welcome you in the future as an employee of Just Eat Takeaway.com. The legal ground for this processing is that we consider your application as a request to take steps

prior to entering into a contract (employment agreement) in accordance with the GDPR.

We process personal data that you provide to us via the website, the application form, sent resumés or by other means during the application process. We process the following data as part of your application for a vacancy at Just Eat Takeaway.com:

  • identification data, for example, your name, photograph, gender, date of birth;
  • contact details, for example, your home address, personal telephone numbers and email addresses, emergency and/or next of kin contact details;
  • information on professional qualifications, previous employment, achievements and/or skills, for example, information comprising or contained in CV/resume, application forms and/or reference requests (and responses). This may also include any authorisations required in respect of your work, for example, evidence that you hold a particular category of driving licence. Some information in relation to references may be provided by third parties;
  • national or other identification documents, for example, your national ID/passport, “right to work” details, details of any visa applications, driver’s licence, ID/security number and national insurance number (or equivalent) and supporting documents where relevant and permitted by local law (e.g. utility bill, bank statement, birth certificate etc.);
  • spouse or partner and dependents’ information, for example, names, ages and contact details;
  • information relating to your previous employers; and
  • assessment data (if applicable).

Sharing with others

We work with other companies within the Just Eat Takeaway.com group and other third party service providers, such as software providers and temporary agencies in order to carry out the processing described above. These group companies and service providers will process your personal data on behalf of us (as data processors) or as autonomous data controllers, and have access to your personal data for the purposes described in this privacy notice, and we require them to protect it in accordance with the standards set out in this privacy notice.

We will also share your data with other third party data controllers where appropriate or required by applicable law or regulation (including a court order) or where we believe disclosure is necessary to exercise, establish or defend legal rights or to protect the vital interests of any person. Such third party controllers may include law enforcement agencies.

We may also disclose your data to any company or prospective buyer of all or substantially all of our assets in connection with any sale or transfer of those assets.

Where your data gets sent

We may transfer your personal data outside of the European Economic Area. This may include transferring it to or accessing it from other jurisdictions that may not provide a level of protection equivalent to the EU data protection laws. Where we transfer personal data we will take account of any applicable statutory obligations relevant to personal data transfers and, where there isn’t a European Commission (EC) adequacy decision in place, we will rely on appropriate safeguards, including EC approved standard contractual clauses. We have implemented similar appropriate safeguards with our third party service providers and further details can be provided upon request.

How long we keep your data

We will only retain your personal data for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of satisfying any legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. To determine the appropriate retention period for personal data, we consider the amount, nature, and sensitivity of the personal data, the potential risk of harm from unauthorised use or disclosure of your personal data, the purposes for which we process your personal data and whether we can achieve those purposes through other means, and the applicable legal requirements.

In some circumstances we may anonymise your personal data so that it can no longer be associated with you, in which case we may use such information without further notice to you.

Therefore, your personal data is by standard retained for up to twelve months after your application process has ended.

Rights, questions or complaints

We inform you that, with regard to the personal data, you can exercise the rights provided for by the GDPR which include: the right to request access to, rectification of, or erasure of personal data or restriction of processing, and to object to processing, the right to data portability, to withdraw your consent at any time (without prejudice to the lawfulness of the processing based on the consent given prior to the withdrawal) as well as to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
